Skin Cancer

Purpose/Mission

The Skin Cancer Task Force coordinates statewide efforts to increase skin cancer prevention practices and policies and to reduce the morbidity and mortality of skin cancer in Colorado.

This task force meets on the third Thursday of each month. To find out more about the Skin Cancer Task Force, contact the Chair, or Click here to join the Task Force and to receive email reminders of meetings.

The Skin Cancer Task Force is a network of Colorado institutions, businesses and individuals working together to reduce the morbidity and mortality of skin cancer in Colorado. Our objectives are outlined in the Colorado Cancer Plan 2005-2010 (The Melanoma Chapter begins on page 47) and include increasing skin cancer education and prevention, increasing sun safety policies at workplaces and schools, working to insure that statewide legislation protects children and adolescents from the harmful effects of artificial tanning and increasing the early detection of skin cancers by physicians.

Several members of the Skin Cancer Task Force are working on a comprehensive, multi-channel, statewide program promoting skin cancer prevention through schools, pediatric and primary care clinics, and workplaces.  Klein Buendel, Inc. is partnering with the University of Colorado at Denver and Health Sciences Center on this effort. This program is funded by the Cancer, Cardiovascular Disease, and Pulmonary Disease Grants Program, at the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.
