Built Environment and Cancer Prevention in Rural Communities

These webinars are supported by both the Colorectal Task Force and the Survivorship/Palliative Care Task Force.

Our objectives are:
  • To define the concept of built environment.
  • To understand how built environment impacts cancer prevention, diagnosis, survivorship, and palliation in an urban setting (or rural setting).
  • To articulate how an individual may impact their built environment.

Objectives for the first webinar in the series on Food access in urban settings are:

1. To understand barriers and solutions to increase access to urban food systems.
2. To understand how access to food systems impacts cancer prevention, treatment, and survivorship
Panelists for this webinar will include Brandy Brogan of Project Angel Heart, Wendy Smittick of Food in Communities and a representative from Metro Caring.
In support of the Second Goal of the 2021-2025 Colorado Cancer Plan, to increase the prevalence of healthy behaviors for the people of Colorado.

Objectives for the second  webinar in the series on Food access in rural settings are:

  • Understand how food and nutrition impacts cancer prevention, survivorship, and management during treatment.
  • Understand barriers for food access in rural Colorado
  • Identify solutions and resources to address food access barriers

In support of the Second Goal of the 2021-2025 Colorado Cancer Plan, to increase the prevalence of healthy behaviors for the people of Colorado.
