First of all, thank you to those that participated in our last meeting. The meeting ran smoothly and we were actually able to accomplish a few things. Please read the info below as it contains important information and action steps for each of us.
PLEASE USE THIS LINK – We would like to track our outreach and education in the community. A large part of our action plan is about these two things, Knowledge is power and the more we talk about screenings the more likely we will be able to increase those screenings in minority groups. This link –https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1aILEt7Fbn_Gqlo7eAoQWMMNQfFj2NhUc-0FXeDZ30hM/edit?usp=sharing – is a google doc for you to track your outreach efforts and the number of individuals you reached. (Thanks Christi for creating the doc)
Emily, has also provided the screening documents attached to this email (thank you). These documents will be helpful to use a resource fairs or education seminars that you hold. The documents discuss many types of cancer and recommendations for each. One thing they don’t include in regards to breast cancer is inflammatory breast cancer. So please continue to talk about the signs and symptoms for that. Here is a link if you need it: http://www.nationalbreastcancer.org/inflammatory-breast-cancer?gclid=CPv984qx2s4CFY-AaQodKHEA9g
Tiffany and I are working on the article we will have printed in the November edition of Colorado Nurse. This publication reaches over 72,000 nurses in Colorado.
Future task force meetings will be held monthly – the 3rd Thursday of each month from 2:30-3:30. Most meetings will be held over Zoom to encourage more participation statewide. Project Angel Heart will host meetings quarterly for the group as well. Please look for the calendar invites soon.
I am also looking for a few individuals to step forward and help with planning our next steps (a leadership type group). It would be great to have more input from everyone about our next steps and action items.
In addition to the leadership – I would also like to hear from all of you… what are you looking for from the BCTF meetings? Is it all about the cancer plan and next steps? Do you want it to be more interactive with a learning component? Networking? Please tell me as I am open to your thoughts. Again, I encourage more involvement.
Next meeting will be September 15, from 2:30-3:30. Info is below.
