Responsible for providing strategic direction for an enterprise-wide portfolio for the prevention and early detection of breast, colorectal, lung, prostate, and cervical cancers. The incumbent will have responsibility for leading and implementing high-impact cancer control initiatives working in collaboration with the American Cancer Society (ACS) Divisions, community health centers, academic health centers, public health groups, and hospitals to promote ACS prevention and early detection goals in communities that experience a high burden of cancer. The incumbent will also provide leadership in strategic decision-making by identifying emerging science and trends, translating applied research, developing and nurturing appropriate internal and external collaborations, and formulating science-based public health strategies and guidelines designed to advance the Society’s mission.

First Descents (FD) is seeking a Community Engagement Coordinator to support the growth of our FDtributaries program and various other community initiatives. We are looking for someone who is creative, fun, adventurous and humble. As a key point of contact with our alumni and the young adult cancer community, it is imperative the Community Engagement Coordinator embodies the FD culture and is passionate about the mission of First Descents.
This position performs regular and ongoing data quality tests to ensure that Colorado cancer data received from multiples sources are complete, accurate, and fit for use in directing public health policy, planning, cancer research, environmental studies, and cancer control programming and evaluation. This position ensures that hospital tumor registry programs in Colorado comply with cancer reporting standards, laws, and regulations. This position interprets complex medical information to determine case reportability and accuracy. The position provides technical assistance and information related to cancer surveillance to internal and external customers.
